Most people who book this journey have done the sums on a package holiday. Two and a half hours is a fair expectation in normal conditions. The A1(M) is a more predictable road than the southern routes, which makes planning considerably easier, though we still allow for the stretch around Leeds and the approach past Newcastle at peak times.
